Small win but I'll take it

Type:
Cash Game

Played mostly sit and gos and tournaments last night.

I played the $26 razz mtt tournament and got seated next to Huck Seed. I of course then distinguised myself by donking off all my chips and was the first person to be eliminated (sigh)

I redeemed myself when gydos jumped into the 2/4 HU game and said that a $30+3 razz sit and go was forming so I joined that just in time to get a seat. Using the mtt debacle as a motivator I managed to play solid razz. Got some decent hands early so was able to stay out of the fray when people begin fighting with $1000 level stacks.

Ended up as a survivor with 4 people with average chips. I ended up taking a few hits and ended up under $2000 which put me in a short stack position. Folded my way to 3rd place when one of the stacks challenged the big stack and lost. This meant the big stack was at $6000 while me and the other survivor had about 2k each.

The big stack made a mistake in my opinion and tried to bully the table. If I where in his shoes I would have just let the two small stacks fight it out and played only premium hands.

I managed to get some chips from the big stack the remaining stack couldn't keep pace with the antes and ended up going out with a desperation hand.

Since I mainly play heads up game the final part was fairly easy for me. I don't think my opponent had as much heads up experience.

All in all I was fairly happy with my performance last night.

Well I had to try him again to prove it wasnt a fluke. Guess I should have stayed away. Did not play as good this time. Also he sucked out on me more than usual.

$200 win against goodhand168

Type:
Sit and Go

Logged in and saw goodhand168 waiting in the $200 heads up razz sit and go so decided to give it shot. I'm obviously happy that I won. But I'm even more happy that I played probably the most solid game I've played in a long while. I only made one mistake where I bet the river when I knew goodhand was on draw and got check raised when he hit it. If I can play like this all the time I'd be a way better player.

Two steps forward one step back

Type:
Cash Game

Well on the positive note I placed in they money in 3 holdem sit and gos. I also won most of my razz heads up sit and gos.

Unfortunately lost 2 $50 razz sit and gos. In both cases I had my opponent on the rope all the way until the blinds went through the roof. The they got lucky before I did.

Had a brutal cash game at the end of the night where a guy was just calling my raises with absolute crap and beating me in the end. Put me on tilt big time so I went to the micro limit holdem table and went all in every hand for about 10 minutes. This cost me $30 but was probably better than going on tilt at the razz table. Actually when I was done I went to the $2 holdem sit and gos and did the same thing and won 2/3 games.

Bottomed out and recovering

Type:
Cash Game

Well am posting another big loss but actually feel fairly good about things. I actually bottomed out at 2k. Last night I went back to the basics and played the $30 sit and gos and the 2/4 table. I won 6 out of 8 sit and gos and was up on the 2/4 table.

Funny story in the sit and gos is that I played slapnuts 2 or 3 times. He had such horrible luck it got funny. Any hand he pounced on would flop kkqq or something silly like that. To cap it off on our last game he went all in and i had trips aces. I felt bad for him so called...and trips floped 3675 for me and he flopped kqj9 (or something like that.

Oh and I played a $10 razz sit and go and came in 2nd. Could have gotten first but I forgot to change gears from loose ante stealing to premium hands. Oh well.

I've still been messing around with the holdem sit and gos. I'm currently playing the $5 single table, $1 multi table, or the $11 heads up sit and gos. At this point I'm losing a little money but I figure it's an investment in learning holdem.

Well I'm just at a loss at how poorly I'm doing. I think I know more about razz than when I started but I seem to be just doing worse.

It's imperative that I really knuckle down and grind my bank roll back up. I think I'll take a break from the cash games for a bit and concentrate on sit and gos.

Good weekend till the end

Type:
Cash Game

Well I was doing well this weekend. Got my backroll back up, got my confidence up and once again took a shot at the 15/30 table. Saw a new person I had never seend before and was hoping they where a drunk holdem player. But he cleaned em out pretty good.

So now it's back to rebuilding time again - this is so getting old.
